Tea-licious

“There are many wonderful things that will never be done if you do not do them.”

–          Charles D. Gil

I have every intention of going for an early morning run but when the clock calls out at 5.30 AM the only place I’m going is back to is the land of nod! I’m  so pooped. Never mind about another hour, I could sleep for a hundred years! But I can’t! After all, I have a job to go to!

It’s Romey’s baby shower this arvo and she’s soooo surprised. But  in a good way! Sue brings some cute little carrot cakes that her mum made, there’s  Chocolate Shortbread Stars, Ginger Slice, Chocolate Coconut Slice, Egg- Nut-and-Dairy Free cupcakes and Donna Hay’s Peanut Butter and Almond Cookies.  Put it this way – no one goes hungry. The Feeder Programme rockets into orbit and almost all the tea time treats get gobbled up gladly. I’m thrilled at the lack of leftovers. The cupcakes all get the thumbs up – I’m definitely going to give those a go again. Best of all the peanut butter cookies still taste terrific, even after their stint in the freezer.

Despite a woeful weather forecast, it turns out to be a beautiful afternoon which is such a pleasant surprise. I take advantage of the sunshine and start Operation Christmas Shopping . Not bad for a first attempt and really quite a successful mission. But I mustn’t get too cocky, that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

The kitchen is a bake free zone tonight but I do try something new for supper. We love the Fluffy Creamed Corn Cakes which are terrifically tasty for a first attempt. They’re so quick and easy to make, just perfect for  a midweek supper!
