Finding My Greatness

So yesterday August 12, was  Nike’s Find your Greatness campaign, the premise of which is that “it’s not just the championship athlete or record breaker that aspires to push their limits. It is also the everyday athlete who strives to excel on their own terms, to set and realize personal goals and achieve their own defining moment of greatness.”

Yesterday, I found my strength in my pump class, but today, I find my greatness and totally redefine my impossible. This morning I run 21.2km – a half marathon! I surprise even myself. I’m sure I’ll hurt tomorrow, but right now it feels good, really good!

You know what they say when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. At 13km I’m starting to flag, ironically, that’s the She Runs the Night distance, and as if by magic, the She Runs the Night anthem (We Run the Night – Havana Brown) starts to play on my ipod. Tat’s all the motivation I need! Music always keeps me moving!

Later, when I am weary, who should I see running round the harbour, than Kathy! We have a quick pit stop for a photo and a big pat on the back and then we are off on our merry way! I’m super charged after I see my trainer in action, she is Mrs Motivator!

My Half Marathon eeting with Kathy!

“Of course it’s hard. It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. Hard is what makes it great.” A League of Their Own

I’m ready and raring to go! Bring on the Half Marathon!
