This 5-ingredient tzatziki recipe is my latest in a line of easy December recipes – all 4 or 5 ingredients, all delicious, and all perfect for parties, entertaining or simply impressing friends with minimal effort.
When we were in Athens, we stopped by Cinque Wine and Deli to sample some fabulous Greek wines. I’d read rave reviews about their tzatziki so of course, I couldn’t wait to try it.

Cinque is a proper family affair, run by Nikitas and his parents. His mum, Evangelia, does all the cooking, and her tzatziki is the stuff of legend. At Cinque, it comes in a little jar with warm pita on the side. It’s simple, perfect, and so delicious we scraped the jar clean.
I couldn’t wait to recreate this tzatziki at home. It was so good, I couldn’t possibly leave without the recipe and Evangelia, being the absolute gem that she is, kindly shared it with me (and even gave me permission to share it here on the blog!)

Of course, she makes hers in catering-sized quantities, but I’ve scaled those down for the home cook. This tzatziki is so quick, easy, and only has 5 ingredients. Best of all, once the cucumbers are strained, it takes just minutes to whip up and all you need is a bowl, a spoon, and a grater.

It also keeps beautifully in the fridge for up to a week (if it lasts that long!) It’s my new go-to dip – I can’t stop making it (and honestly, I don’t want to!).
Do you have a go-to dip recipe? Or a restaurant dish you’ve recreated at home?

Ingredients
3/4 English cucumber, peeled
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
2 1/4 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 small clove garlic, finely minced
250g good quality Greek yoghurt
Dill or parsley, finely chopped to garnish (optional)

How to
- Coarsely grate the cucumber and place in a colander. Sprinkle with salt and leave for at least 30 minutes.
- Squeeze out all the liquid from the cucumber and place in a bowl along with the oil, vinegar, garlic and yoghurt.
- Mix well, sprinkle over the chopped fresh herbs if using and serve!
