Taking Stock December 2025

Happy New Cheer friends! I know we’re all getting stuck into the first month of the new year but I’m on the back foot looking back at the last month of the old one! Although December in the UK gives bleak midwinter vibes, it’s so fun and festive that it’s one of my favourite months of the year. I’m pleased to report that December 2025 was no exception and here’s why…

Baking: Anthea’s shortbread. This recipe is so good, it’s for life, not just for Christmas.

Making: Multiple batches of my Christmas Pudding balls. They’re my signature festive treat.

Eating: Mussels in Brussels and very excited about it!

Drinking: Beer. When in Belgium and all that…

Feeling: Quite famous after seeing ourselves in this month’s Woman and Home magazine. LOL!

Seeing: Fiddler on the Roof in Birmingham – one of my all time favourites.

Bursting: Into (Fiddler on the Roof) song around the house – poor David!

Catching: Up with my dear friend Jo from Brisbane, in Birmingham.

Getting: Our annual Christmas photos done with matching jumpers of course!

Wondering: Why I haven’t been to a panto in years. Golidlocks and the 3 Bears was such fun!

Remembering: How the 80s were the greaties with the Wild Boys tribute band.

Watching: All the Christmas movies and my favourite festive series Home for Christmas.

Hosting: Our dear fur-iend Tango. How I love being a 2 dog family!

Sharing: 4 and 5 ingredient recipes this month.

Loving: The Christmas markets in Bruges and Brussels.

Liking: Catching the Eurostar to Brussels – it’s so quick and easy!

Disliking: Sub zero temperatures – they’re just not my jam!

Squeezing: In a night in London before Brussels. The lights were so pretty!

Adding: A few more mugs to my Christmas market mug collection.

Spending: Pre-Christmas with the fam and Christmas proper at home.

Taking: Teddy to the beach ‘up north’ – he even got to see Santa Paws!

Marvelling: At the price of Christmas veg – as little as 5p (10 cents) in Aldi!

Wearing: Christmas jumpers every day in December.

Admiring: The Christmas Tree House – there were even more trees this year!

Reeling: From the news at Bondi Beach at Hanukkah.

Lighting: Candles for Hanukkah and remembering that it’s a time to find light in the darkeness.

Popping: To the pub on Christmas Day.

Thinking: About 2026 getaways – so many places, so little time!

Looking: Forward to the new year.

Now I’ve told you about my December, I’d love to hear about yours. What’s your favourite month of the year and why?
