The Six Month Marker

It’s the six month marker today! Six months ago I had my total thyroidectomy to try to beat thyroid cancer and this morning I celebrate by braving the British elements and pounding the pavement. It’s very chilly and I have to move fast not to freeze! I finish off my 5 km and smash my personal best! Reasons to be cheerful!

It’s blowing a gale outside but what better place to stay warm and toasty than inside… a shopping centre! Today we hit the shops in Sunderland and David and I continue to buy the best of British! We have already filled our cases with clothes so today I branch out and buy some more cookery books. I’ve got so many, soon they will need a room, never mind about a bookshelf, of their own! Most of my best recipes come courtesy of BBC Good Food so imagine how thrilled I am to discover their series of cookbooks each with 101 recipes! They’re like little volumes of recipe heaven! I would buy the whole set if I could but I can’t, so after some deliberation in the book shop, I decide on 101 Slow Cooker Recipes and 101 Hot and Spicy Dishes. I have a sneak peek through the little volumes, it’s enough to make my mouth water!

Shopping  can really take it out of you and I’m bushed! I have a little lie down before gettingready to go out for an Italian feast with the family. The gang’s all here and we have a great time. It’s a lovely last night in Newcastle.
