Honey Oatie Bars

Makes 12  bars or 16 squares

These are oats so simple and oh so delicious! They’re not the prettiest snack bar, but they’re probably one of the yummiest. Full of store cupboard ingredients and egg free, these bars will be a welcome addition to any lunchbox or make a terrific teatime treat!

Ingredients

100g rolled oats

170g sultanas

130g wholemeal self raising flour

120g raw sugar

40g desiccated coconut

155g butter

1 tablespoon raw honey

How to – Traditional method

  1. Grease a 28cm x 18cm tin. Preheat oven 10 180C / 160C fan-forced.
  2. Combine the oats, sultanas, sifted flour, sugar and coconut into a large bowl.
  3. Melt the butter. Add the honey.
  4. Add the butter/honey to the dry ingredients until mixture clings together.
  5. Press firmly and evenly into tin.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  7. Cut into bars while hot, and leave to cool completely in the tin.
  8. Remove from the tin when cold.

How to – Thermomix

  1. Grease a 28cm x 18cm tin. Preheat oven 10 180C / 160C fan-forced.
  2. Add the oats, sultanas, flour, sugar and coconut into TM bowl. Mix on reverse speed 3 for 10 seconds. Set aside.
  3. Add butter and honey to TM bowl and melt for 2 minutes at 90 degrees on speed 2.
  4. Add dry ingredients to TM bowl and mix for 20 seconds on reverse speed 3 using the spatula to assist.
  5. Press firmly and evenly into tin.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  7. Cut into bars while hot, and leave to cool completely in the tin.
  8. Remove from the tin when cold.
