Taking Stock – May 2024

May was all about the yay. It was busy and action packed but in the best kind of way. We had lots of adventures home, away and even overseas and spent time with friends from near and far. Here’s a quick look back at 31 days of fun. Side note: Can you spot Margo and Florence the mini horses’ new friend?

Making: Pot stickers for the first time – so easy!

Baking: This coffee cake for my friend Lucy’s birthday – she was visiting all the way from Sydney!

Eating: My way around Madrid.

Drinking: Espressos in these cups that my mum gave me.

Posting: The recipe for this Halloumi, Pesto and Chickpea Bake.

Thinking: Of this time 3 years ago when I lost my mum.

Missing: Her more with every passing day.

Wondering: Where summer has gone.

Wishing: The rain would go away… And I’m not the only one!

Turning: Into a typical English person and talking about the weather all the time.

Working: As an invigilator for high school exams.

Reading: Brand New Friend by Mike Gayle on my kindle. It’s an oldie but a goodie!

Listening: To Scouting For Girls. Just booked tickets to see them later this year. Squee!

Watching: Clarkson’s Farm – I’m a bit obsessed. Also loved The Idea of You on Amazon Prime.

Joining: In with Sherry and friends for this month’s In My Kitchen.

Jetting: Off for a girls trip to Madrid. So. Much. Fun.

Staying: At the Hotel Emperador – what a spot!

Swimming: In the hotel pool and sunbaking at the side of it.

Wanting: To pat all the cute dogs in Madrid. There were lots of them!

Matching: PJs – friends that twin together, win together!

Buying: These cavapoo socks from Primark in Madrid.

Spending: Quality time with Lucy – such a treat!

Noticing: That my milk bottle legs are now the colour of caramilk. This is progress.

Loving: My May nails!

Liking: My Friday flowers from the weekly market. Flowers are so affordable here.

Disliking: The amount of rain we have been having. It’s just rude!

Laughing: At Teddy in his workout gear. Just call him Mr Motivator!

Hanging: This beauty by Doug Hyde.

Unveiling: The outdoor furniture for the summer season and it’s been raining ever since!

Going: To the Big Smoke three times! I think that’s a personal record!

Enjoying: Afternoon tea in London town with fabulous friends.

Taking: Teddy on the train to London – twice in a week! He’s basically a commuter now!

Seeing: Teddy’s reunion with his Sydney dog sitter while she was in London brought us all so much joy!

Catching: A bit of Chelsea in Bloom… Even if we did get really wet!

Getting: My hair did and feeling human again! I got so lucky with my hairdresser.

Planning: My next trip!

Feeling: Very lucky… And a bit tired!

So that’s a wrap. Tell me how you’ve been and what’s the weather like where you are? (Spoiler alert: It’s likely better than here!)
