So the prompt for this Life This Week is “My Favourite.” Baked goods and dumplings and sunshine in spring, these are a few of my favourite things. Now let me tell you a few more!
Sydney
Favourite Sydney icon: The Harbour Bridge. I still get excited every time I cross it!
Favourite small bar: Lobo Plantation. Their rum cocktails are fabulous and the plantain chips are pretty good too!
Favourite place to eat: New Shanghai. Because… Dumplings!
Favourite beach: Balmoral. The no wave situation is a real bonus.
Favourite walk: Taronga Zoo to Balmoral. Oh, so pretty!
Favourite tearoom: The Tea Cosy. The scone and tea cosy situation here is very pleasing.
Animals and pets
Favourite Australian animal: Wombat
Favourite pet: Dog
Favourite breed of dog: Cavoodle
Favourite dog: Calvin (even though he’s not a cavoodle!)
Travel
Favourite airline: Qantas
Favourite mode of transport: Train
Favourite road trip: The Great Ocean Road. It’s been too long in between visits!
Favourite weekend destination: The Blue Mountains (it’s my spirit place.)
Favourite city: Sydney. Living here is living my dream!
Favourite place to go on vacation: Disneyland. It really is the happiest place on earth.
Entertainment
Favourite female author: Marian Keyes
Favourite male author: Mike Gayle
Favourite book: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Favourite children’s book: Avocado Baby by John Burningham
Favourite musical decade: The eighties. I think they were the greaties.
Favourite 80’s movie: About Last Night. Rob Lowe’s finest!
Favourite movie soundtrack: St Elmo’s Fire. All my favourite 80’s stars in one movie – it’s pure gold!
Favourite movie of all time: 50:50. And not just because it was filmed in Vancouver.
Favourite Disney movie: Frozen. Especially the sing-a-long version.
Favourite tearjerker: The Fault in Our Stars. And the book is mighty fine too. Now pass the tissues!
Favourite chick flick: Trainwreck. This is how I developed my basketball obsession.
Favourite Netflix show: Queer Eye. I love those five guys so hard!
Favourite TV genre: Documentary
Favourite actor: Joseph Gordon Levitt
Favourite West End Show: Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I know all the words to every song!
Favourite band: Snow Patrol. They never get old.
Favourite guilty pleasure band: Take That. Been loving those guys since the 1990’s.
Favourite podcast: Anything by The Australian.
Food and Drink
Favourite meal to cook: Curry. Dharish’s chicken curry is hard to beat!
Favourite food: Dumplings. I never met a dumpling I didn’t like.
Favourite food smell: Bread baking
Favourite pizza topping: Ham and Pineapple. Please don’t judge me.
Favourite childhood food: My nana’s bread pudding.
Favourite candy: American Hard Gums (which are actually not American at all.)
Favourite course: Dessert, of course.
Favourite meal of the day: Dinner
Favourite thing on the afternoon tea stand: Scones!
Favourite British food: Roast dinner with Yorkshire Puddings
